ESPN | Joon Lee: The Yankees are headed to Iowa to play the White Sox in the “Field of Dreams” game next week, and both teams will have some new threads for the occasion. The teams will be wearing throwback-esque uniforms, inspired by ones from the early part of the 20th century.
Des Moines Register | Tommy Birch: Speaking of the “Field of Dreams” game, here is a look at the plans for Thursday’s game, and how the teams are planning on getting to Dyersville for the occasion.
NJ.com | Mike Rosenstein: A former Yankee prospect is back in the division, as Jorge Mateo has joined the Orioles after being claimed off waivers. Mateo went to the Athletics as part of the Sonny Gray trade, and then went to San Diego in a June 2020 trade. He spent part of the last two seasons in the majors with the Padres, but hasn’t found much success so far. Baltimore added him to their major league roster, so we may see him face off against his former organization before the season ends.
New York Post | Ken Davidoff: The Yankees have been playing well of late, but if you’re looking for even more optimism, here you go. A simulation of the rest of the season on Out of the Park Baseball 22 saw the Yankees get into the playoffs as the first of the two Wild Cards, and advanced to the ALCS, where they fell to the White Sox. OOTP is a lot of fun, but still just a game, albeit a realistic one. That being said, that would be a decent outcome considering the way this team has looked at times.
