Warriors to host Lakers for opening night, ring ceremony: Sources

The reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 18 for an opening night ring ceremony on TNT, league sources tell The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Golden State defeated the Boston Celtics in six games during the 2022 NBA Finals en route to their seventh NBA championship. Los Angeles ended last season with a 33-49 record, missing the playoffs for the second time in LeBron James’ tenure with the team.

Sources also confirmed that the Dallas Mavericks are set to host the Lakers on Christmas Day. Marc Stein first reported this news Friday.

The Mavericks finished last season losing to the Warriors in five games during the Western Conference finals.
