Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul will decline his $44.2 million player option for the 2021-22 season and become an unrestricted free agent, sources told The Athletic.
Paul, 36, just completed his 16th season in the NBA, in which he helped the Suns advance to the NBA Finals. He averaged 16.4 points, 8.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.
After falling to the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 6 of the Finals, Paul was asked about his player option and the potential of entering free agency, to which he said: “We just lost a few minutes ago. Right now, we’re going to process this and figure this out. I think everything else will take care of itself.”
