Pac-12 Conference could get just 3 berths

The Pac-12 Conference could see just three teams in the NCAA Tournament, according to a recent projection for March Madness.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi currently has the conference landing only three teams in the tournament, Arizona, UCLA and USC.

He projects the Wildcats to be the No. 1 seed in the East Region, the Bruins to be the No. 2 seed in the West and the Trojans as the No. 4 seed in South.

How top heavy is the conference this season?

Lunardi doesn’t have a Pac-12 team among the “first four out” or “next four out” sections of his projections.

Arizona is 13-1 overall this season. USC is 14-1. UCLA is 10-2.

Arizona is No. 2 in the nation in the NCAA’s NET rankings, with USC No. 19. UCLA is No. 25.

The next Pac-12 school in the rankings? Washington State, at No. 58. The Cougars are just 9-7 on the season.

The Arizona Wildcats basketball team is almost a lock to be in the NCAA Tournament. But how many Pac-12 teams will be joining it in March Madness?

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm is a little higher on the Pac-12 than ESPN.

He has four teams from the conference making the tournament, with Oregon earning one of the final four spots and the First Four game that comes with it.

Palm projects Arizona as a No. 2 seed and USC and UCLA as No. 5 seeds.

Oregon is currently 10-6 on the season, but got a big 84-81 win over UCLA on Thursday night, which could go a long way in helping the Ducks make the NCAA Tournament.
