Manchester United transfer news RECAP Paul Pogba latest as Raphael Varane set for Man Utd medical

Manchester United were supposed to compete in their fourth friendly of pre-season today but it had to be cancelled.

The match against Preston North End was called off after a ‘small number’ of players and staff had tested positive for Covid-19 following lateral flow tests.

Thankfully, results from PCR tests returned negative within the first-team squad so United are now free to resume training ahead of their final friendly against Everton next week.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is set to miss the first two months of the new season as he prepares to undergo shoulder surgery.

The club said in a statement: “Following consultation between Marcus, the manager, club medical staff and specialists, Marcus will undergo surgery imminently to resolve his shoulder injury.

“He will now focus on his rehabilitation in order to return as soon as possible.”

A recap of the day’s United news.
