Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Ben Jacobs has been discussing the race to sign Jude Bellingham next summer and Liverpool.

The England midfielder’s future looks set to be the biggest story of next summer’s transfer window as Borussia Dortmund prepare to part ways with another star player.

It’s no secret that Liverpool want to sign Bellingham. Jurgen Klopp has basically said as much himself and it’s constantly being reported by the biggest outlets and journalists in the footballing world.

However, while we know Liverpool want Bellingham, how much this deal will cost remains to be seen, but according to Jacobs, the Reds have an idea in their mind of how much this deal will set them back.

Liverpool’s Bellingham theory

Jacobs claims that Liverpool think Bellingham will cost them between £85m and £100m.

“It’s a very open race and what will the price be? That may depend on if we see a suitor move early in January against the so-called plan of Bellingham not leaving until the summer and will they try to trump the market with a massive offer that can’t be turned down? Will that change the dynamic and provoke a bidding war,” Jacobs said.

If it’s more of a slow burn, that £130m will look more like £100m and with preferable terms it could be even less. Real Madrid think they can get the player for £85m. Liverpool think it will be between £85-100m.”

Could change quickly

A top-end valuation of £100m for Bellingham sounds about right to us right now, but Liverpool need to be wary of the fact that this could change incredibly quickly.

With a World Cup around the corner, Bellingham’s stock could grow exponentially this winter if he plays a key role in helping his country to the latter stages of the sport’s biggest competition.

Factor in that Bellingham is also likely to continue to star in the Champions League, and it’s fair to say that his value could go up between now and his potential transfer next summer.
