Top Class of 2022 wing Dariq Whitehead committed to Duke on Sunday, giving coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer his first five-star recruit.
Whitehead, listed at 6-foot-6 and 190 pounds, is the No. 6 overall player and No. 3 small forward in his class, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rating. Whitehead, who attends Montverde Academy (Fla.) and is from Newark, N.J., was also considering Florida State and Kansas and received an offer from the NBA’s G League.
Whitehead joins Kyle Filipowski, a four-star center who committed on Thursday, in Duke’s Class of 2022. Scheyer is set to take over after the 2021-22 season, which will be the last in legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s career.
